Just how teh hell do u set this up using a dialup connection and a lan with TCP/IP installed.
192.168.0.1 = Gateway pc with modem.
    192.168.0.2 = Client PC.
Also what ports et.c would i use to get mIRC running from Client?

What OS are you using on the PCs?

For Internet Connection sharing you need Win98 second edition, Win ME or Win2000. If your not using one of those the easiest way to set it up is to use wingate from http://www.deerfield.com

Your PCs should be configured like this:
    PC1:
    IP: 192.168.0.1
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: None
DNS (use your ISPs DNS servers) IOLs are 194.125.2.240 and 194.125.2.241

    PC2:
    IP: 192.168.0.2
    Subnet: 255.255.255.0
    Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
DNS (use your ISPs DNS servers) IOLs are 194.125.2.240 and 194.125.2.241

After that you have to enable Internet Connection sharing for the Dialup connection on PC1. The easiest OS for this is Win 2000 professional if you have it.

    I'm running win98Se on teh gateway 192.168.0.1
    and win95OSR2 on teh client
the lan works fine. Just need to get the ICS working manually.
What is the DNS for Oceanfree?
I want to do it manually so I can have abit of direct control over it.
It also comes in handy for using RW etc. acros it.

I don't know the IPs for Ocean, but the IOL ones will work and should be just as fast.

In Win98se you go into add remove programs ans Install Internet Connection Sharing (it's in there somewhere) after that you reboot dial up your ISP as usual. Have a look at this for full details:

ICS is fairly easy to set up, if you know how.. theres a few do's and donts.

Firstly, get the machine thats dialing up, and install ICS via add remove programs.

Then in the TCP/IP bound to your network card, assign an IP address of something nice and easy to remember... (10.0.0.1) ..

Go over to the other PC, and dont have a Dial up adapter on it, it will only confuse the matter smile.gif. Now what you want to do with this is ...

Go into the tcp/ip bound to the network card, and let it automatically obtain an IP address. Set your Gateway to 10.0.0.1 (or wahtever you set the server to.),

You will then have a connection on both pcs,

now a very common problem is that if you install ICS on the server, and you are messing about with it, and you decide to remove and readd it... You go to Network in control panel, click on the ICS protocol and remove it right ? ... Wrong tongue.gif .. You have to remove it from Add/Remove programs, otherwise it leaves IP routing enabled, and causes all sorts a problems smile.gif
