Ok, sorry if this is the wrong place to be asking these questions, and it may be a bit long winded but please please read this and bear with me, i would really appreciate it if you guys would clear up a few things for me:

Basicly, my story is that i am a very regular user of the internet about 3hrs on peak, and upto 5hrs off peak on a resedential line, and upto 12hrs at weekends, now as you can imagine, i am getting very big phonebills, and that i also either am a porn fanatic, or i play a lot of counter strike ,and spend a lot of time on boards and IRC!! smile.gif
I also live in Sandymount, beside Donybrook.

I would like to know hat my internet options are, i have a 56k modem (crap,i know), and a averge powerd pc
(I am giving as much info as i can, not all of which im sure is relevant, im sorry ,but bear with me)
I also use UTV internet to connect to the internet,
Basicly i want to know what ALL the internet options are for me ,such as do i qualify for certain NTL deals, and what are these deals, and what are all the offers of internnet packages, and which would best suit me for saving money,
Thank you so much for your time, and i hope you can help me smile.gif

If you can get NTL cable then you can avail of their Flatrate weekend offer.
£15 a month for unlimited time @ the weekends but with a 2hour cutoff i believe, but a simple modem string can cure that. smile.gif
    Thats it.( for flatrate anyways)
Unless your area have been given an NTL "upgrade", you can buy your own cable modem and get the NET for £50 a month.
If none of the above applies then wait until UTV start using the 1893 number for 24/7/365 Flatrate, but this is a couple of months away still.

NTL cable you say, does this involve any instilliation or changes as i am a eircom customer?
Also, is cable a faster connection than 56k?

And could you please elaberate on this UTV internet feature coming in a couple of months, i.e. what are the new features/offers?

And does this NTL flaterate apply to all areas of Dublin? or is it restricted to these "upgrade areas"

P.S. im sorry to be spamming all these questions, but i am not very claever and have no knowledge of computers what so ever, i just play them

NTL offer cable modem internet at 512kbs. Approx. 10 times faster than 56k.

AFAIK, that is only a rumor. This depends on either UTVInternet negotiating a flat rate with Eircom (Ha!) or one being imposed on Eircom by the authorities.

The weekend flat rate applies to all ntl customers. It goes from midnight Friday to midnight Sunday. Call charges are quite high if you use them outside of this period. If you are in an upgraded area, then you can avail of 24/7 hour flat rate dial-up 56K or cable modem internet at 512kbs. I'm not sure what the situation is with non-NTL customers.

tbh i don't think you live in the ntl upgraded area
afaik its only tallaght, terenure, templeogue, and maybe some clondalking.

if u can upgrade and use them as ur phone operator, you can get free 24/7 internet access (2hr cutoff) or a cable modem (no cutoff).

chernobyl would you mind please passing on that modem string,

NTL one way system is very good,
only problem is you pay .75p more a minute then erco mon the weekdays for net access,
but you will always get a decent connection,
it takes about 2 and a half weeks form you first request to join to get you conencted,

i should be set up today. its just something to hold me over untill ADSL in september hopefully

ntl wont provide you with a modem, you need to buy one form the like of 3com.com

just buying your own doesnt mean a damn, if they havent upgraded to two way you cant use it
