Lap top power cord is bent

How can a laptop power cord become bent? The jack is always bent and have to straighten it while on the laptop so to power it. Its my laptop but flatmate sometimes takes it their bedroom to listen to music. Its normally left in sitting room on the floor under an armchair. I'm just wondering if it could be caused by tugging…

I'm just wondering if it could be caused by tugging the cord out while takin the laptop? had a bit of a row with him over it and he's saying it could be caused by leaving it on the ground.
