What do you hate about hotels?

Once in a while I have to stay in a hotel for work. I like having a good bathroom and having my room cleaned but mostly I don't like it.

    Here's what I hate:
    1. No milk in the fridge - just those plastic uht packets.
    2. Incredibly hot in the corridors. Is there no way to recirculate the hot air? heat exchange or something?
    3. Mystery phone charges. The phone charges are listed per unit without telling you how long a unit lasts.
    4. Shampoo and conditioner in the bathroom but no toothpaste or razors. You can't even buy them from reception.
    5. Noisy a/c in every room rather than a quiet centralised system.
    6. No steam irons.
    7. Internet access only by modem. WTF in this day and age?
    8. Being told you are too late for breakfast
    9. Having to fill in a form with my address etc when I've stayed in the hotel 20 times before.
    10. Low energy light bulbs all over the room with their lag time when you turn them on, depressing cold light and slow warm up period.
Most of these things cost sod-all to fix.

Extremely dodgy wiring in the bathroom.

Nothing like an electric shock first thing in the morning. Especially when you're naked.

Hotel breakfasts, especially if I'm on my own. Not sure why, they just seem far more fussy than I'm ready for at that hour.

Otherwise, I quite enjoy a good hotel. If I get a bathrobe, slippers and an in-room safe, I'm happy.

    .

Waiting for hotel breakfasts - you nver know how long you'll be sitting on your arse for them to serve it up - so you don't know when you need to get up! Buffets are the only way to go.

    - non-buffet brekies .. every morning is different and I like to choose.
    - having to pay €10 and hour for broadband
    - noisy aircon
    - bad reception on the television in the room
    - bad selection of channels on the televison
    - windows that don't open
    - no toothpaste (I nearly always forget mine)
    - lack of shoeshine
    - low pressure showers
    - cheap interiors
    - no little nibblies with your tea/coffee

Generally I am willing to pay a little extra for 'better' hotels and nothing is worse than being dissappointed when you are stressed after a days travelling and have to get up early in the morning for another days work.

    buffet breakfasts are fantastic.

    1. Dodgy wiring i have experienced quite a few times, though no shocks :)
    2. Dodgy reception on tv.
    3. Stuff with lots of dust on it, tables, etc just nasty.
    4. Sticky bathroom floors
    5. The price of the minibar, even though i dont drink i like the bottles of 7-up or red bull or the tiny packets of peanuts!
    6. I can identify with the mystery phone charges, i only called pizza places which dont cost anything but a mystery number (which i found out DIDNT EXIST) cost me $10
    7. Balcony sliding doors falling out! In one Travelodge i went downstairs to get some crisps when i came back up my wife was standing up holding the balcony sliding door which had came off its tracks!
    8. Some management dont give a sheit about you and make everything sound like a massive chore when you want something simple, like a clock with alarm
