Hand from a VC $25STT 2 days ago. It happened fairly early in the tournament (6th hand) and therefore I had no great read on either player, but had an inkling that the 8) guy was kinda wild. I felt at the time that it was one of these hands that either makes or breaks the tournament.

Surely this is the easiest fold in poker history?

yup dump it, you asked a question with top pair and got your answer.

with the min raise preflop i'm guessing 8) has KQ, 9s or 10s.

sure youll tell me you called and he had AK, hit an A on the river....gwan tell me!! :)

Definate fold for me. I'd say someone either has a high pocket pair, trips or paired Q.

This should have costed you zero chips, dumped from the start, even though you position, it had been raised and called in front of you.

You can describe other people as 'wild' but you are playing these hands as well all the way to the river.

    Fold.

I'll nearly always try and limp with 8Ts, and will fold pretty much automatically if it's raised in front of me, the odd time however i'll meet a minimum raise. I won't play it to the river unless it hits big or i get to see cards for free.

In this case it didn't hit big, and as karl said I asked a question and got the answer. For some reason I thought it was a bs answer, but I folded anyway as all the indications said I should. The reason I posted it was to make sure my read was ok and I didn't throw away those chips too easily.

So yer man won it with high card Ace, the cheek of him/her!. I often find initial raisers over raise betting on the flop because they are bulling they missed the flop  with high cards like AK etc. I think a lot of them arent doing it because they are shrewd thoughtful players but simply because they are bulling they missed. I often see these raisers/re-raisers called by someone holding 82o and it really cheers me up. Thats what ya get for bluffing ya bluffer i say to myself!. Nothing gives me greater pleasure to see a player call a bluffers bluff with a dodgy pair, unless its me but you see i dont bluff i dont ;)

you were right to fold, (although I may have folded preflop, and just flat called on the flop if I was going to play)

you can't legislate for bad players and your read would have to consist of ESP to make a call there. How many times out of a hundred would you call with that hand and be ahead? once, twice maybe if you're lucky.

What was seat 8's nick btw? wouldn't mind adding him to the list ;)
