2fm last night after the 9pm news.

Anybody else here this fucking song?

It's a rap and initially I thought it's an english guy but then "story bud" was said and I went into the kinks laughing.

Some Dub doing it and for the life of me I cant remember his name. Begins with a 'C' and he's got an album comming out.

I need to turn off the radio.

Is this the same "rapper" that can be found on Grafton Street?

I remember hearing an interview with a rap duo. One of th e guys is a reformed junkie from ballymun and the other was a English graduate from somewhwere poshish. Some name like "Ghost in the machine" or "fight the machine" you know a name suggesting they are fighting the social system.

Not sure if they are connected.

I once was working a night club and there was a DJ from Ballymun who thought he was in LA or something. Kept saying things like "for me homies" and "Northside rules" etc... every 2 minutes, really pathetic. The manager eventually had to take the mic off him because he wouldn't shut up.

You can like a style but doesn't mean you need to copy it.

Yeah, "Man and The Machine". It doesnt have anything to do with fighting the system, or whatever, but the guy does beat-boxing so hes called "the machine". They're the two fella's you see on grafton st all the time.

there is actually a song that this guy from CIT did about getting turned away at the door of a night club, never actually heard it myself but he was the talk of the place for a while, they used to play it on the radio and all, doubt it was any good.

Then you'd better not click on the link I posted above.

They rap about stuff like being addicted to coke, having a stroke, showing their cock to the school nurse, selling their ass, me ma found me in a bin, smokin' crack, and other terrible tacky lyrics...*shudders*
It's funny, because I'm quite sure they haven't done any of that stuff, yet they claim to be "keepin' it real".

There was another guy who gave it a go a while back. Not exactly rap, but i remember the line #.....rolling down, to Dub-a-lin town, coming from da southside heading northbound.....#, think he was from Donaghmede.

i'm all for giving indigenous artists some leeway (there's a pun in there somewhere) find their voice and fit it to what is effectively an imported medium, and i'm sure there's some mc talent somewhere in Ireland, but based on that evidence it's not in Cork.
