You can get Sid Meier's Gettysburg and SM's Antietam in a pack from www.firaxis.com , both of which are v good. Crap graphics and that, but great strategy.

If you don't mind extreme depth go for The Operational Art of War series, the second vol has 3 great scenarios that cover the Arab-Israeli conflicts superbly.

Hmmm, Panzer General? Great gameplay, but it's not really a wargame in the same terms as the one above, it doesn't strive for realism or in-depth tactics. Still excellent for killing a few hours, esp when you realise you can turn those damn animations off!

FOG "Fields of Glory" was great fun, Nepoleonic era warfare. The Game play was excellent and the graphics were neat (if not realistic). I got months out of it replaying battles and trying new tactics.

Anyone played "Age of Sail"? I have "Wooden ships, Iron men" and though it was great (got alot of play out of it in Multi-player) but am looking ofr a new historical "Galleon" wargame. I have played the Turcan games (found the commands a bit fiddly to work).

    Any recommendations?
