A Bad beat story from last nite at fitz. Your critical thoughts please.

On the bubble (10 players) I'm medium stacked in BB (600 - 300 blinds ) UTG limps all fold to SB who also limps. I look down with glee at pocket kings and Raise to 2400 ( I do want some action here ) after some deliberation UTG calls giving small blind nice odds ? to call also. Three see a flop of 7-Q-10 ,Rainbow. Bingo !.

SB pushes all-in I immediately call confident I'm ahead with my overpair and UTG also calls .

Cards reveal as I suspected SB with J-Qos top pair runner runner str8 draw and astonishingly UTG has A-7os for bottom pair and saw fit to call 2 x All-in bets.

Needless to say 4th street rewards the a22hole with "A" for two pair and I'm gone fully steaming.

Was my pre flop raise too small .

    Any thoughts welcome

Played fine preflop and after I think. You don't say how many blinds anyone has or what your read was though, both important. If it was a massive overbet on the flop made by a known nut peddler then you would possibly have a reason to fold.

Thats just unfortunate, preflop you were just 59:15:26 to win the hand and post flop you improved to 60:20:20. Both hands were big dogs to your KK. If you push pre flop or raise much bigger (blinds are 600.... 300 or 600 -1200?) you cant be certain our A7os weilding friend won't call you anyway. I think you played this well to extract as much as possible out of you opponents, are you playing to hang on in for the cash or playing to get enough chips to put you in a comfortable situation to win the tourney? Such is the bubble dilemma for some....

You want action but ideally from no more than 1 player. I think your raise was fine (pot bet) and you were unlucky to end up against 2 and both hit enough for them to chase post-flop. Just bad luck imo.

I think your play looks fine, just unlucky.

As for the way I play on the bubble, it's a little different. I want to survive, but I also want to have a chance of winning. The first need is the more important (duh). If I get a good hand, I push. At this stage, with KK, I'm hoping A,x or an underpair will call my bigger pair, probably if they are any way lowstacked, or think I'm defending my blinds with the same kind of hand.

I want one caller, but would rather have no callers than two. Survival first, chip accumulation next. Two callers mean trouble, and I don't wanna get up before I can get paid.

Would you have dropped the hand if an A had hit on the flop?

This is silly, why would you think you did anything wrong on this hand, because the results were bad?

You raised with a hand that you wanted action with. You got called by 2 players who shouldn't have called. The flop is dealt, and you're still ahead when the money goes in, and yet you call the guy who is trying to give you $ an asshole?

And it's not a bad beat either, just an outdraw.

    Yes, this annoys me too.

Next time maybe he'll let you look at his cards and then you can ask him to fold because he's more likely to lose his chips to you than win any!?!?

Thanks for your valued opinion guys.

are you playing to hang on in for the cash or playing to get enough chips to put you in a comfortable situation to win the tourney?

I was'nt concerned about limping to final table. There was a small enough field so 9th - 5th was a small return on €110 entry and I wanted to make the final table with a tank and a good chance of a first place finish.
You don't say how many blinds anyone has or what your read was though,

All three players were similarly stacked. UTG was a bit of a novice and limping in a lot with Face rag type hands but had laid down a few hands to raises. SB was a decent player and I felt he would have raised with any decent holding pre flop. I was confident his flop all in bet was top pair on the the board and called instantly.
