I posted off a Mobile phone to someone else on boards here last week. It was not sent by registered, but it had the address in large lettering and a return address clearly visible.

No sign of it either end since, and its been a week tomorrow. Is there anything at all I can do? I dont have a receipt....

This would be the first thing I've ever sent to go missing :(

sorry to hear that, but it's gone. You should always register your post for valuble items, especially a phone. Some knacker at the post office probably stole knowing that you had no comeback.

An post can be really unreliable at times. I had a gas bill sent on the 25th only for it to come about 2 and a half weeks in to the following month. Pissed me off no end.I would check at your local post office and also the local one on the other side just to make sure.

An Post are total sh!te at times... thats why its goin under. for future reference send any kinda package EMS...bit more expensive but there's no way it will get lost without being able to track it.. if the phone doesn't turn up soon; its gone

I'm suprised at an post recently, they've been doing a bang up job, recieved stuff in 3/4days that normally takes about a week. They used to be crap, but seem to be picking up now.

Well thats what REALLY worries me - the last few months, everything I send or have sent to be from Dublin arrives in Galway the next day or day after!

i've always experienced next day delivery with stuff sent withing Ireland, it's only things that are coming from over seas that are the problem.

If you order something from america, it'll get to ireland in a matter of days, yet it'll take a week to get from the post office to your house

an post have been kind to me, stuff form america usually takes 5 days and ireland is usually next day, its the dutch that are useless! i ordered tickets off them and i got the 3 weeks later, postmarked the 15th of june any i got them on the 1st of july! useless!

ring an post they might be able to help you out, they have like a maximum payout though they might be able to throw you a few euro anyway!

there won't be any money thrown anywhere if it wasn't registered.
