whats the best way to get published in the national press?

I currently work in the media but in a different field, radio journalism.

I'd like try my hand at feature writing in living/lifestyle sections.

    How should i approach this?

I'm in a similar position but am doing a writing and research project with an NGO at the moment - it's a more freelance role.

I'm hoping to get around to pitching an idea or two and I'd find out who is in charge of commissioning articles for the section you think your article will fit, then contact them with your idea - the angle, the key sources or contacts.
