Oh, and I know that the minimum fsb, etc. sticky is horribly outdated, but (I think it was mutant) one of the regulars did a suggested graphics card one and I think it's worth putting up in place of the fsb one. Like:

High end gaming computer = blah + blah + blah
Mid range gaming computer = etc.
High end graphics workstation = etc.

You get the picture. This would need updating every few months, but would be very handy indeed.

Thanks for all the feedback like.

If there's no feedback it must mean you're doing everything right (or else everyones too afraid to critisize :) ).

It's a great idea to have the stickys tidied and locked, they're a bit too unwieldy to be really usefull at the moment. Thanks for putting the time in to do it.

Very nice, handy list! Also maybe add http://www.over-clock.co.uk and http://www.xcase.co.uk ??? Slightly more specialized? Do you want specialized stores in this list e.g modding/cooling?

Exactly what I was going to say ^^^^ :D

    Sarcasm works! :D

So...should pixmania get a * beside it? How many of you have actually used it? I checked out the site yesterday (will add it) and it's a nightmare to navigate, but the prices seem good.

PC memory upgrade and Shop4Memory are the same shop ;)

    This is Khannie:

OMG!!! Sorry Jozi. I hit "edit post" instead of "quote".

2nd edit: Conveniently had your original in another window!

Khan leave it in. I've noticed from time to time people do ask about local shops because they dont have a credit card or want it asap. Also Jes do bank transfer (dunno if they started doing cc orders) maybe note that in brackets.
Other than that it looks good.
Pm me if you want me to help with something, if im able to do it that is

EDIT: as ciaran said shop4mem and pcmemupgrade are the same but 1 sells psu's and various other items that the other doesnt stock (not on the site anyway)

Not sure about a star, as I've only proposed it a few days ago, so not sure if many boardsters have used it. I've used it a few times, all happy about it and I know a few other people who are happy and going to use it again. Navigation and whole layout is done *professionally*, unlike many of the Irish sites which seem to be done in Frontpage by people with no clue. I'm saying this with a great sadness, really ;)

For the graphics cards, how does something like this sound...

1st gen means current generation. The latest and greatest.
2nd gen means the previous generation, not quite the latest and greatest, but good.
3rd gen means the lowest gen you should considar. The budget range.
    • 1st gen
      Nvidia 7800GT
      nVidia 7800SE
Bla bla bla (in order of greatness, as show by benchmarks)
    • 2nd gen
      Ati X850
      NVidia 6800GT
      Ati X800
      Nvidia 6600GT
Bla bla bla (in order of greatness, as show by benchmarks)
    • 3rd gen
      Ati 9800Pro
      Ati 9800
Bla bla bla (in order of greatness, as show by benchmarks)

Brick and Mortar Shops: (Not sure about adding this section)
    Unity - Dublin CC
    Maplin - Dublin CC
    Marx - Dublin CC
    IT-Direct - Dublin CC
    Beyond2000 - Dublin CC
    Compustore - Dublin CC
    Harvey Norman - Dublin
    Peats - Dublin CC

I'd like to see that included in this sticky. Although you would have some massive list at the end. Maybe make it a seperate sticky?

Woooot  , i thought it was 1 of the most well layed out and simple websites ever. Compared with some of these irish onese its ahead in leaps and bounds :p .
I ordered from them, saved me 27euro in comparison to komplett's prices  . Delivery was very quick and only 13euro

And they have some crazy specials. 3-5 everyday is some crazy summer special, can pick up some bargains. I bought a logitech MX510 and got a logitech Wingman gamepad for 1euro :D , good stuff.

Munster Computers are from ... em ... Munster. I think that's in Ireland (apart from Cork obviously ;) )

    *pixmania +1

cant remember what i got, but i know i was very happy with them. Getting 2 mobile phones off them in a week or so too ... wouldn't do that unless i trusted them

have used pixmania too. would generally recommend it but 3 things

    1) Customer service by email is worse than useless
    2) May carry older stock tfts with old panels and lower refresh rates so be careful
    3) Their DHL 24hour delivery was actually 48 and 72 last times i used it

For interesting articles you have to add in Vulture Central

That's not such a major deal in my eyes - I do think I remembe rreading somewhere that it's 24 hours for mainland europe, and 48-72 elsewhere.

That said, if you order before 10am(I think) it'll be a 24 hour delivery time

How about a tutorials section as well. There's plenty around that could be useful to link to. Examples: the DVD-AVI tutorial posted yesterday, Tom's hardware have some good tweaking tutorials, build your own pc tutorials, etc etc. I have some bookmarked at home that I could mail you later on if you think this is a runner.

    Thanks Snap. :)

Tutorials section is a runner Mac. PM or email me your starting list. I'll let others add to it by PM.

I'll be finishing this up at lunchtime today. The board's becoming very busy so it's getting more important to try and keep stuff on the front page to avoid bumpage.

    Nice job.
What about splitting places to buy computer parts into those located in Ireland and those overseas.
