I've got a Packard Bell windows xp home edition pc with a dial up internet connection and everytime I use the internet after about two minutes of being connected it says "you have just ignored an incoming call" but the thing is I haven't and then it disconnects me from the internet.
can somebody please tell me what's wrong and how to fix it. if my info is too brief I'll tell you whatever else you need to know. cheers!

Think it means your Call Waiting is enabled and turned on..

ok well how can I turn it off so that I can be connected to the internet for more than 2 minutes at a time?

Change the dialup number to #43#,H,O011234567 (that's OscarZero after the H).

#43# to disable call waiting, H to hangup, O to reopen the line and then the number. Then I think you can have a disconnect string as well with *43# to re-enable call waiting. Alternatively just pick up the phone and dial #43# to turn if off and don't bother changing the number in your dialup connection. Then leave it off - does anyone actually use it anyway ;)

when I try and change the dial up number it says "The connection attempt failed because the modem(or other connecting device)on the remote computer is out of order" and it won't connect. I also tried picking up the phone and dialing #43# but when I do that nothing happens. please help!!

I hate to be ass but thats hard to get rid of its something to do with the Aztech CNR modem V.92 you have. I had packard bell Imedia and it always happened me so I invested in a new Trust modem. It may not occur for while but it sure as hell keeps coming back, I was told by Packard Bell that they had no effing clue how to fix. Also it has nout to do with incoming calls as it says as I used to call my home phone whilst on the internet and it wouldnt come up, its just a major Dial Up fault in that modem.

Had this problem a lot with packard bell(when i worked in PC World), there was a fix that sometimes worked if you go into
start->Control Panel->System->Device Manager and go into properties for the modem and somewhere in the properties is the option of country, change this to ireland and it might stop the incoming call, otherwise you'll need to invest in a new modem as willem D suggested :D . Haven't a clue why country setting would affect incoming call tbh.

I think it is a smart link modem in the PB machines. There are updated drivers available from their website which may resolve the issue.

They have generic drivers for theuir modems chips
