Usually the stand alone PC monitor will ahve a higher resolution and pixel density. The TV might be bigger but is made from a lower cost panel, with lower resolution and higher response times...it depends what you want from a monitor, I suppose.

Also the TV has a built in analogue tuner as well as a remote!!!
Normially the speaker setup is included with the LCD TV further inflateing the price.

So really browsing the internet with a lcd tv wouldnt be very good cause i am using my tv now as a dual monitor for a media centre and cant even see the writing, was hoping a lcd tv would be the same(well almost) as a pc monitor.

It'll be a fiar bit higher resolution than a normal standard CRT.
Where you're getting confused is at either end of the market there's a big price swing. At 17" the LCD TV costs more than the 17" tft but as you go up to the 32" you mentioned in your OP a decnet LCD TV can be had for ~1500...the only 2 monitors that even approach that size are an apple cinema 30" or the new ones coming from dell, both of which are a LOT more expensive..
