Jazz in Dublin? Female vocalist looking for a band

    Hi.

I wonder if jazz is all dead in Dublin area? I've been trying to find a band working and hopefully lacking in a strong gospel/jazz/blues vocal but I failed to find any. I couldn't even find any pubs doing jam sessions for musicians and bands to play together.

Or maybe I don't know where to look? Could you point me in the right direction? My aim at this stage would be to record a cd with jazz/blues standards in new arrangements, hopefully more groovy and funky if I can find the right musicians.

Come on, jazz is too beautiful to let it die in a Capital city of Ireland :)

Might I suggest the Improvised Music Company for info on jazz gigs:

    http://www.improvisedmusic.ie/index.html

They have a listings section which will give you a handle on the main jazz venues in Dublin. Also you would probably run into musicians at any those gigs.

Can't help you with the scene myself as I'm located outside 'The Pale'--that's Dublin, translation for Polish people :)

    Good luck.

Why didn't you post in the Jazz/Blues forum?

There are plenty of places to meet jazz musicians, I'm a Jazz guitarist, but i'm not interested in what you're looking for, but I'm sure you could meet people in places like JJ Smiths, The Mez on sat nights, the Boom Boom Room and the Wellington, that's where most of the gigs happen.

If you're interested in recording a CD I may be available for a session or two, send me a pm.
