Not sure if this is the right place, so Mods feel free to move...

I've got a whole drawer full of euro coins 50c, 20c, 10c, 5c, 2c, 1c - I'm sure there's well over 150 euro, and I'm looking for a quick way to get rid and get the cash...

Would those machines in the SPAR's / centras take it? the ones that you enter all the coins in and they take a % of it?

Anyone know one in the Ballsbridge / Ringsend area?

get yourself some money bags and bring it to the bank.

just make sure you have the right amounts in each bag as they'll weigh them in the bank.

no point in losing some of your money when this is just as quick.

Can't really do the bank thing, as I work 9-5 monday to friday... and getting to a bank is just not practical for me...

Plus... counting them out is a bit of a pain...

Well the machine in the local spar takes 11.5% of the money i think, bit much to avoid a bit of hassle imo

They don't..Not once it's counted. Post offices take it as well but it depends on the humour of the girl behind the counter in my local one.

The banks open during lunch, or even get someone else to get a few bags for you. Counting them won't take that long.

Bank of Ireland did to me. After that I didn't get it changed and have been throwing 2-3 bags into the credit union a week (who certainly dont charge).

    Banks vary

one-off personal customers with just a couple of hundred euro in properly bagged coin I wouldn't bother to charge

    regular business customers it's €2 per €100.

btw - Banks hate getting coin :D

I could never understand why people feel the need to throw their coins into a jar.
do you not find you are constantly having to break notes because you have no change?

maybe someone can correct me if im wrong but tescos do those savings stamp things. i think thats free. and the machines are right by the check outs (in athlone anyways). i know it aint cash but we all gotta eat so your saving on your shopping bill. again im unsure - maybe you can cash them in after you get them.

change jars are a very easy and innocuos way to save money.
at one point all our bills and rent came in at the same time and myself and my flatmates were broke, so we tapped the change jar and got 50 quid, and still left it more than half full. this paid for our food for the next week till we got our pay packets in.

change jars are worth the hassle.
