My mate has a HP Pavillion ze4500. Lately, whenever I am using it not on the mains power but on battery, it totall freezes up, so I have to hold the power button for 5 seconds and restart it. This usually happens after about 20-30 mins, and sometimes happens again after the same amount of time. It has hapened once or twice when on mains power, but almost always when not plugged in. Any idea what this could be?

Another strange problem is that I have a (Dell) Logitech optical usb mouse. I set the wheel to scroll 5 lines per time, but every time I restart it does not save this setting and I have to go into mouse settings and redo it every time. Really annoying. Anyone know why this is not saving the setting/

    Thanks

dunno about the mouse thing, you might need to switch some settings in the BIOS, would n't be too sure thou.

The most common reason for any computer frezzing, is a lack of power from either the PSU or in your case the laptop battery. Batteries will never last you a life time, my nokia phone is bollo*ed, only lasts about 2 hours before dying. Might be time to get a new battery!
