ATi R520-> Autumn?

    ATI has overcome yield problems and says the R520 GPU will begin shipping in the Autumn.

    According to ATI, their problems with poor yields of their 90nm next-generation graphics chip are soon to be solved, paving way for Autumn shipments of the R520, R530 and RV515. ATI is already planning the release of the R580 in early 2006.

    Nvidia has already released its next-gen part, the Geforce 7800 GTX, beating ATI to the market by several months. With the launch of ATI's 90nm part it is expected that PCI Express will gain market share, eventually overtaking AGP, but unlike Nvidia's 7800 GTX, ATI do plan to release their latest gen card in AGP form.

    Wasn't this meant to be released in a couple of weeks time??

    Would any of ye get it if it's going to be replaced early next year?

    Huh. I remember reading one or two articles where it was said that the 7800GTX was just a "mid-end" card, and that when ATI brought out the R520, Nvidia were going to bring out their top end 7800 Ultra or some such thing.

    The R520 was delayed for a while because ATI wanted to do the same launch plan as Nvidia - having cards already shipping on the day of launch. That and I'm sure was a bunch of other things too but I can't remember them. I probably wouldn't pick up any other graphics card this year (just got my 7800), but next year there's games with new engines that look amazing.
    So I may have to put two R580's in Crossfire :)

    Actually, does anyone know what chip ATI are using the Xbox 360?
