    thats brill info! cheers!
but can u give a little more info into what the naval reserve is? im pretty new to this and i have no knowledge of what i need to be doing. I would more than anything like to build up some experience in maybe the naval reserve. id just like to do a bit of work on a ship and travel a bit..i dont mind the hard part of the job but i wouldnt like to get tied into anything. can u go into the naval reserve for a short period and build experience? what type of people would you be working with? as it would be important i get along with other crew mems for my sanity :D
also can i ask about the eyesight requirent..my eyesight is ok..i only need very weak glasses..is perfect eyesight required for the navy? i have perfect colour vision.
    cheers.

well the naval service primarily looks after fisheries protection of the irish and european boxes boards trawlers an checks that everything is in order like fish size and tonnage if to small an carrying over the qouta this woul call for an arrest. also they watch out for drug runners which woul call for armed boarding and detention of the vessel but other than that you would just be oing your day to day job depending on what divsion your in: there,s mechanics, executive, telecommunications and supply. there the four divisions. basically mechs look after the engine room, the executive or seamans division as it also called look after the upper decks of the ship and maintaining the vessel while at sea and tieing up when along side, telecommunications or tels as there known as look after all aspects of communication between other vessels i.e. naval or trawlers and monitor the emergency frequency and supplies look after cooking, rations and the officers of the ship. as for the navy reserve you only train onec a week like here in waterford its on a wednesday but in cork dublin and limerick they train on a tuesday and some weekends also you only get paid for this when you go away on camp for say 3 weeks on a naval ship or in the case of the recruits down to the base for a week
