Why Does Boards Disappear?

Why is it Boards disappears around 3:30 am? Has anyone else noticed this? It always happens and there's a message saying there has been a database error.

Anyone know what this is about?

It's the database backing up. Starts at 3 and is usually back online around 3:40.

I see. I was wondering what it was. Do you know what's involved in the process? Do Mods have to do it or something?

I presume it involves taking the database offline and backing up the data onto another drive.

I noticed this too but thought it was earlier than three. Must be a crap database that can't be replicated easily

Well it has to copy over all the posts here in after hours, it probably sobs gently to itself while doing this and hence slows the whole process down.
