ok, i wasn't planning on going to oxegen but i was in contact with a manager of a band who are playing on saturday and said he'd get me on the bands guestlist, now the problem is i don't want to stay out in oxegen all day and just want to see this one band (they playing 1 o clock i think).

i know busses run from parnell street to oxegen from 10am on saturday but is there just return busses at the end of the day?

well seeing as i'm a mate of their manager and have met the band enough for them to know my name merits me enough for them to ask me if i wanted on the guestlist.

*EDIT* also people on the guestlist are asked to make a donation of €30 that goes towards a charity so it's not like i'm just scabbing of my friend to get in free.

i don't think it matters what band it is, wouldn't matter if it was green day, foo fighters or i don't know some other crappy dance act or something.

if you think i'm a knobhead because i've been invited to be on the guestlist then you're a sad person

i think your a knobhead for bitching about how you are gonna get home & why ask such a ****ty question . if you have the "contacts" to get you on a guestlist use your peanut of a brain and figure out your own way home.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

i'd hardly call asking a question about when the busses return bitching.

well if you think so fair enough.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,688 ✭✭✭grimloch

For God sake he only wanted to know if he'd be able to get home.

well we go back a good bit i met him when the band came over here in 2002 - their first gig here - and he's sound he's into the same music as me and generally is a layed back guy. I'm actually going more so to meet him than to watch the band although that is a bonus to, i'm not staying for the whole day as not a lot of the bands are my thing and well i have to be somewhere that night.

yeh, but if you get on the guestlist you kind of have to make a donation of €30 - which i don't mind having to do - which is donated to some major charity, probably MCD or something like that :D:D

    ooops on misinterpreating your reply

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 42 **rainbowcake**

Well at least u only had to pay €30 and its goin to a worthy cause whereas others had to pay alot more! :)

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 442 ✭✭seanironmaiden

I'm on Audioslave's guestlist and I was never told you had to give €30 to charity? not that I'm bitchin but it would have been **** if I turned up with like €40 not knowing that. I wonder if they'll let me in on Saturday aswell even though Audioslave are on on Sunday

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

it's not necessary, but it's just like you're getting into a festival pratically for free so it's just their way of getting some money for charity, also i'd feel a right arsehole going to a festival that people have spent a lot of money to get tickets, tents, gear etc. and then i get in for free.

aarrgh my head hurts ive just read this entire thread out of some kind of self destructive delusionary instinct....jesus !!
a mate of mine once had somebody quite famous sleep in his house i wonder if i'll get in free to oxegen!!!

back to work ....enjoy the gig folks!! im paying in & dont really care for any of the acts who are on!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

i would of rang dublin bus but you see there are this small problem of BUSINESS HOURS.

since my mate needed to finalise his guestlist he needed an answer last night.

Oh and it's not the sawdoctors, the band ain't Irish they're from Scotland.

everyone has an opinion about music it just happens that mine is that dance music is crappy, i don't mind if you disagree with my opinion but at least respect it as i respect everyone elses opinion on music as music is such a broad appeal to everyone and is like a language which everyone takes on the own dialect.

Eh how do I disagree with your opinion?
I said keep yours to yourself! If you realise that "music is such a broad appeal to everyone and is like a language which everyone takes on the own dialect" then y put a whole genre down in on sentence! its obviously not crappy millions follow it just like other genres!

And exactly how else do you propose he finds out?

He needed an answer that night and God forbid someone should actually help him.

what so you want me to stay at a festival when it's my parents 25th anniversary, and there's a surprise party. How ****ing selfish would it look when they ask ohh where's "x" and someone has to tell ohh erm he's at a music festival

Oh wow well didnt you just pull that bag of guilt out of the bag bravo!

Why didnt you give your place on guestlist to someone who would have absolutely loved to have gone and made their day rather than you going along for the heck of it.

Also it sounds like you ducked of the organising just to go that was not very nice.

And why would you rub in the fact that you were nonchalantly going to people on here who may be upset that they couldnt go, just to ask a rediculous question.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,584 ✭✭✭✭Creamy Goodness

well the reason i mentioned the guestlist thing was i thought people might of been curious as to how i got a ticket, but instead they just wanted to abuse me.

the invite was for me only from my mate i wasn't going to go here i can't go but here is some random stranger who wants to be on the guestlist but not to your band. real polite.

everything for the party was organised well in advanced you don't just do these things on a moments notice.
