There are different formats of writable DVD out there, most commonly DVD-R and DVD+R. Not all drives support all formats. Also, certain older operating systems don't support the UDF file format used, and so either may not read the disc, or will not read above the first session.

Ah, now thats a little different. I would half expect Nero to be able to recognise the disk as it has its own ways of getting at the disk (as it would need to to be able to burn). That's no indication that Windows is able to read the disk.

so what ?? u think i should download nero and stick in the CD and see if it reads it?

uhh i didnt think nero did that or am i confused?

No, thats not what I am saying. I'm saying that Nero doesn't use Windows code to manipulate the disk, it has its own to do it. Just because Nero can identify the disk format doesn't mean Windows can. If Explorer doesn't open it, it won't open it. Simple as that.

However, you might be able to use a program like CD-Roller to grab the files and copy them to your hard disk.
