well it looks like the loser of this game will be playing the cats so both teams have a big incentive to win.....personally i think waterford will win this easy enough...clare are a shadow of their former selves and struggled to beat a poor offaly side....
    waterford by 7 points methinks!

    Is this game being televised?

Surely Clare are due a big game, like last year? has Anthony Daly got his team behind him?

Was wondering about the Qualifiers and I asked a question about it in another thread here.

How do you know that the Winners of the Clare/Waterford group get to play Leinster Champs I thought that these fixtures would be drawn after the qualifier rounds finish this weekend...

    from the Indo:

WHILE Galway, Limerick, Clare and Waterford have all qualified for the Guinness All-Ireland hurling quarter-finals already, the battle to top the two groups after the final series of games will still give this weekend's fixtures a cutting edge.

The winners of Sections A and B will be drawn against Tipperary and Wexford respectively while the second placed teams will face Cork or Kilkenny. And while Wexford came close to retaining the Leinster title last Sunday, there's little doubt that qualifiers would much prefer to be matched with them, rather than Kilkenny.

Counties that have already met in the provincial championships will, where possible, be kept apart in the quarter-finals but there can be no deviation from the basic formula. Laois, Antrim, Dublin and Offaly will play off in a relegation battle, with the eventual losers dropping out of the race for the Liam McCarthy Cup next year.

Next weekend's Antrim v Laois and Dublin v Offaly games are essentially meaningless as all four will still face a relegation battle, with the pairings as follows: 3rd Section A v 4th Section B; 4th Section A v 3rd Section B. The two losers will play off to decide who drops down to the Christy Ring Cup in 2006.

The Qualifiers this season have proved extremely disappointing with seven of the eight games producing seriously lop-sided results. Clare's one point win over Offaly last Saturday was the only competitive game of the series but the remaining seven were won by an embarrassing average of almost 18 points.

The quarter-final draw face the following possible pairings: If Galway and Waterford top the two qualification sections, they will be drawn against Tipperary and Wexford with Cork and Kilkenny paired against either Clare or Limerick. If Galway and Clare top the groups, they will be paired with Tipperary and Wexford.

In that case, Galway would play Tipp and Clare would face Wexford as Tipp and Clare have already met. Since Cork have already played Waterford, they would be paired with Limerick while Kilkenny would play Waterford.

However, if Limerick and Waterford top the groups, Limerick would play Wexford and Waterford would play Tipperary (Tipp have already played Limerick). There would be an open draw for the other two games with Cork and Kilkenny in one bowl and Galway and Clare in the other.

In the event that Limerick and Clare top the groups, they would both enter an open draw with Tipperary and Wexford as Tipp have already played Limerick and Clare. Waterford would play Kilkenny and Galway would face Cork in the other games as Cork have already played Waterford

    Confusing stuff!

Anyways - It'll probably be Dublin to be relegated.

Laois done all right in the qualifiers - loosing by 11 and 9 points in games against Galway and Limerick. - nearly half of the average scores aforementioned...

yeah laois have done well...they were well in both games for long periods and gave away late scores.....i think the bookies have underestimated them this weekend only giving them a 4 point deficit in the handicap.
