Guitar theory complete newbie

    right i started this thread because i didn't want to mess up the sticky which all seems to be hard looking stuff for a newbie like me.

    since i now have time durning the summer i'd like to learn some theory. what are the best sites to start from scratch keep in mind i know absolutely nothing about theory of guitar just know how to read tab and play most things and use most techniques.

    Hi, good call starting to learn theory, its a must.

    There are quite a few sites that cover this, www.ibreathemusic.com being a VERY popular one. Don't know too much about it myself. Just google and you'll come across hundreds of sites.

    To be honest, you can teach yourself theory, but if you want faster results you're better off getting a teacher, someone who knows what they're doing and can answer any questions you have, and believe me, you'll have ALOT!

    I've been playing for a few years and i've picked up basic theory in that time and know my way around a fretboard, but i don't know nearly enough to progress as a musician.

    So i'm starting lessons tonight infact, learning theory for the first time from a reputable teacher. I don't know how much it will help me or how fast i'll see results but it has to be done.
