I ordered a guitar off www.chrisguitars.com and it was posted out 4 weeks ago with an expected delivery date of 4-10 days, but it hasnt arrived yet and a friend of mine remarked that the customs office might be holding it! Has anyone experienced anything like this? Is there anyone I can ring to check if they have it?

It's definately not uncommon for Customs to hold onto something for a long time, especially if there's no phone number on the package. Give them a call and see.

i bought an amp online from www.gak.co.uk & while there was a delay that was because they'd run out of stock & were waiting on more - soon as they got some in they dispatched mine right away & it arrived soon enough. they were great to deal with actually, they rang whenever they had new info & kept me up to date.

have you contacted the ppl to see if it's a problem at their end? never heard of the customs office thing before but i guess it's possible, i'd say call the company before you call customs though.

I got all the shipping details off Chris the day he posted it out, so theres no problem at his end, but unfortunatly you cant track USPS airmail and they havn't answered any of my e-mails about the guitars location. I have no problem with places like www.gak.co.uk (Last time I used them I had my stuff in 3 days) or anywhere else based in Europe for that matter. The main problem is guitars outside Europe have to be dealt with through the customs office for import duty etc :(

USPS is the slowest option, I've gotten stuff from Ebay thats taken sometimes up to 8 weeks to arrive.

The advantage of using USPS, especially for small items is, unlike big courier companies such as UPS, it can sometimes slip through the VAT net here ;-)

    USPS?

Good luck mate. It's one of the slowest carriers in the world, it's nearly as bad as Belgian post.

Also if customs get it (likely on such a large package) they will hold it for between 2 days and a month - then bill you.
