This is not a plug, just looking for comments. A mate of mine has brought out a new poker mag (Poker Player Ireland). Its available free in casinos from tomorrow. Good articles from Hector, Dev, Shortstack, Muso and a few other good reads.

Pick one up if you see it and any comments good/bad email them on to the address given.

There is a PPP competition in it also.

    Cheers.

Hyz - If you want to write an article, he'd love that. Will contact you.

Nicky and ZZR - pm your address or work address and I'll get some copies sent on to you.

Fandango - That was quick. Thanks for comments.

Hyz would be a good writer for it alright. I am looking forward to seeing it, save me a copy!

I hope it came out ok, its a big undertaking that could work well for Irish poker in general. Bout time we had some publicity for the calibre of players here.

Careca, I'd love a copy too. I also would be interested in contributing, if you think I'm worthy! You can see a couple of things I've written on www.poker.ie - just go to the Play To Win section, my name is Cian.

Just read the magazine. Absolutely brilliant with great articles. It is definitely one of the best poker mags i've read. All the best with it.

P.S. there are copies available in the Merrion...

    yeah I concur,
was flicking through it last night in the Fitz, forgot to bring it home for a good read nice work!

I like the idea of the magazine, but some of the content is horrible.

An article suggesting a bankroll of 300 big blinds "for a no-limit cash game, of course". Did someone miss a zero or did he read online that 300 big bets was about enough for a limit game?

Another article about how bad it is to pick up aces or kings near the start of a tournament, as the writer lost all his stack with them once. This may have been a joke, I honestly can't tell.

There is an excellent article on bet sizing in no limit, and an interesting interview with Scott Gray, but I think the magazine may need an editor (at the moment it seems to have several "contributing editors", but no editing editor).

My first impressions were very good. I am surprised at the quality for a first issue with the budget I'm assuming it has.

Haven't read the 'how to' articles but Shortstack and DeV pieces were good.

I think if it developes as it should, you're on to a winner.

Good luck to you all, and Brian.

I presume they meant a bank roll for a nights play. Which would be reasonable... I havent seen it yet (I'm actually very keen to see it, I'm all excited :) ).

How do we have a RoundTower and a RoundTower2 are they different people? Does one of them want a name change? I'm highly discombobulated, Ted.

    lmao.

Thanks for all comments lads. Will be passed on to editing editor. Not sure who wrote article about Ks and As roundtower but I'll ensure they get their arse kicked. Fair point though. Keep em coming.

That would be me and being me also my mistake. Does one mistake make the whole article worthless? I added a mention of boards at the end of the article. Anyone reading the article can come here and you can tell them what an idiot I am.

I read HJs article there last night and I have to say I was very dissapointed. There was nothing about metagame factors, Paul Phillips or jelly. It was just a load of excellent advice regarding bet sizing.

Neil, both Romario and Edmundo scored braces in the Brazillian championships a couple of weeks back. Despite having nothing to do with poker I reckon a three page article would be justified? Or shall we leave that for your Brazillian legends publication?

No, not at all. It was more an example of shoddy editing (a good editor would have picked up on this) than bad writing. The article is good.

By the way Tom this is David from the Fitz. I have no idea who Roundtower2 is but it's the best name I've seen on the internet in my whole life.

LOL. Hoping to get that publication out in the next few months. I have some excellent pictures after spending a full day on the beach in Marbella with three Brazilian ladies. They were crap at football but need to be included in any publications for other reasons ;)

Am i'm Michael - a freeroll merchant in the Fitz and part-time dealer in the Merrion. Also, i'm the only Roundtower left in the Heads'Up. :D Although, that could change after my 6pm match today against threebeards!

Hopefully anyone who wanted a magazine got one by now. Nicky and Lplate, sorry, yours were only sent today. Mix up.

If there is anyone out there who runs a game and wants regular copies, can you contact pokerplayerireland@eircom.net and give your details and game details.

    Thanks.
