Removing cracked software

Hi, I'm trying to get rid of a cracked version of Photoshop on my pc, It kept demanding it be activated and wouldn't run if i didn't activate it. I've uninstalled it a few times the correct way but when i try to load another version of photoshop it still demands that i activate it. Does anyone know where these extra files demanding activation could be hiding?

when you say the correct way, did you do this via the add/remove programe option?

When you say "when I try to load another version of photoshop" is that a cracked version too?

The lesson to be learnt here is; don’t use cracked software. Hummm, Or possibly it's; don’t use poorly cracked software.

Could be anywhere really, a good bet is the registry though... try killing some Adobe registry keys... being carefull of course not to upset your other legitimate Adobe software like acrobat reader.

...if it was cracked as you say it wouldn't need to be activated if it was done properly.

    so I've been told.

Why don't you just activate the new, presumably purchased copy, of Photoshop? The serial number is on the CD case usually.

Yes, i did it through add/remove programmes, whether this is the right way or not.

eh.... no,.... well, yes! I know i know, but i can't afford it, i'm not a company. Its a different copy though

    so I've been told.
The Instructions weren't very clear at all, i only realised after a 30 day period expired.

You should call Adobe customer support and ask them, the number should be at the back of the manual somewhere.

    (lol I love these threads.)

Install this. It's free, and does pretty much everything you want.

Ok bagocans.....I was trying to trap you there....and you fell right into my little trap.

    MUUUUUUAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!

Seriously though....don't post looking for advice on cracked software here. Gimpshop really is very good (pick's linked to it) and it's free. I know photoshop's expensive...but that's because it's quality software for high end users.

Earlier I was going to post a pic of admiral Akbar saying "It's a trap"... because it would have been oh-so funny... but I wasn't arsed.
So does he get a ban or something? What's the payload of this trap?
Or is it just a moral victory ;)

Actually I even go so far as to say don't put demo software on production systems unless you are sure you can upgrade.

I know where you're coming from but you should probably close the thread at least. Can't be seen to be helping someone with cracked software.

Jesus the guy asks for help to run his illegal software and all you do is give him abuse.

The problem is that the crack is for the american version, but you're running a irish installation, you need to change this. The quickest way is to use the voltage switch on the back of your pc change it from 230 (europe settings) to 110 (american settings) which will make you pc an american one for a couple of milliseconds.

Just keep a fire extinguisher handy.

The only reason I haven't closed it is that there's people trying to make the guy switch to using legitimate software. You know me Mac, I'm not very tollerant of muppetry, and certainly wont allow anyone to actually provide help on using cracked software. :)

Blimmin heck, how was it a trap?:) You asked him directly and he was slow enough just to say "yes".

"Hang on a second, can you put your foot into this little noose here? Now, wait a minute while I wind up my winch here and pull you off the ground into my net here. Yeah, just a few minutes"

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 37,485 ✭✭✭✭Khannie

    Hahaha.

I just wanted to make it look like I was willing to help, then *BLAM* wind up my winch and slowly pull him off the ground into my net ;)
