since reinstalling windows some of my .rm files cause the computer to stop responding and i have to turn it off. i have no idea why some work with no problems and others cause it to freeze. any ideas from you good people?

realplayer and real alternative both have the problem and all the files play fine in safe mode for some reason

That's a bit crazy. Are they super-duper latest versions? Does Helix player work?

Does this happen with other video formats? or just rm's?

seems to only be rm's at the moment. tried avi, mpg and wmv with no probs. that helix player seems to only be for linux. is there a windows version?

they're not new versions and they worked this morning before i reinstalled windows

edit from first post. i said they work in safe mode but in fact only realplayer works. real alternative still freezes but only the program, the rest of the system is fine.
im thinking it might be something to do with real audio because it works in safe mode where the audio is off. anyone else experienced this?

its all hunky dory now. turned down the video and audio settings to most reliable rather than highest performance and they work. thanks lads
