Looking for any multiplayer games that use tcp/ip in the vein of half life, UT etc, where one runs and the other joins from a lobby.

Has to run on an oldish machine, 500mhz, and work on XP sp2.

So anything from 1993-2000 that can be played via tcp/ip.

    Action, FPS or strategy. Thanks.

Pretty much anything from the Age of Empires series.
Should check out TreadMarks aswell... afaik it's abandonware now.

Get yourself Starcraft and it's expansion pack Brood War. With the updates it's probably the most well balanced RTS game ever. The Doom games are great craic in co-op. Get the GL doom update. You can try JDoom but in my experience its not very stable (remember to delete the client id files before trying a network game).
