There's no reason why you can't just uninstall McAfee or Norton or whatever is on there and get rid of it. I did this the first day I got my Inspiron 9100 which came preloaded with Norton Internet Security, 3 month trial. Got rid of it and replaced it with AVG Free, ZoneAlarm, Adaware and Spybot - sorted. Just make sure you uninstall it from the Windows Control Panel and preferably, do it in Safe Mode.

On another note, you're overeacting a bit. DELL clearly states on the configuration of their machines that the software is a trial edition (unless you buy the full one when configuring the system). If you like it, then you can buy the full subscription and there go the reminders - if not, then you can remove it and replace it with whatever you like. Simple as that.
