Why does the recent post list dissappear?

Lads, I notice every so often when I enter the boards the recent post list has vanished. The structure remains, but I can't see who/where the last posts were. Why does this happen? ;-phobos-)

Usually happens around midnight, doesn't it?

My guess is that the system only looks for recent posts of *that day* and so just after midnight it thinks there are none...

I noticed this yesterday, at about midnight, and agaidn today, about midnight. Not sure why, but I'm sure there's a good reason for it.
