Inflatable bed problem.

Ok got one of these inflatable double beds in Aldi awhile back.So my problem is the beeestard keeps losing air,its a slow puncture.I have tried in vein to try and locate problem and tonight I asked my mam to blow in a good bit of smoke into bed, because there is a decent enough hole to put the electric air pump into it.

I thought with the amount of smoke in it and inflated tight that it might start leaking some smoke but alas no.My mam was all dizzy blowing smoke in from cigarette :D .

Now this is not like a tube where you submerse it and look for bubbles. So does anyone have any ideas as how to locate the pigging hole/s.

I havent a clue where to put this,so if a mod would think its suited elsewhere please move.

Maybe it's the seal that's loose? The one where you blow the air in. I suppose it depends how big the puncture is...Hm, that's something to think about alright.

There is two seals really, one where you can put a the electric pump fitting into(around the size of and old one punt coin) and a normal one like on a beachball....

I have inflated it really tight and have put my face near seal and have felt nothing.

There is a rubber stopper to go into the large seal and then a screw on top.

Go over it with a wet sponge.

Talcum Powder. Just a thought but it should be disturbed by a small leak.

    Hi Mad m,

To test gas installations soapy water was used, maybe you could make up a can of water with washing up liquid and check it one section at a time by brushing it on ?

No wonder they sold so cheap... Probably rejects/manufacturing faults?

Could just be not that great a quality. I remember we used to have one we payed a good bit of bob for but it still wouldnt stay up all night either.

Think your problem started when you bought it in Aldi,

I slept on one in a friends....had to inflate it myself after some serious beering. It deflated by morning and my back was very ouchy!

perhaps you could cover the whole thing in selotape or something like that... that way you are bound to cover the leak :D

Whats the purpose of the damp sponge going over it?

No I actually bought the electric pump,I'm fcuked if I was pumping that bed with a foot pump.It inflates in seconds with electric pump, and you can deflate with it just as fast. But it does that all by itself... :D

Hey anyone out there see them being sold again? I might try and pull a fast one and buy another and bring back mine and get money back. :p

Too see if the water bubbles when it passes over the puncture.
