    Hey there,

    going to thailand in just under 2 weeks and are staying on Koh Phangan for 5 days.

    just wondering is the island nice and is there much to do there (apart from the Full Moon Party)?

    we are staying in thong nai pan which our friends tell us is beautiful.

    any info would be most welcome!

    stayed there for a fair bit of our time in thailand

    theres plenty of bars there although most of them close early but theres usually parties going on in the runup to the full moon party which is an essential part of the trip if you can fit it in

    a day in ko phanghan

    get up at some stage in the morning, go rent out a bicycle or a moped and go exploring the island or go to some swimming/scuba diving

    read a book, get some weed, get a coconut milkshake from the bar and chill out in your hammock on the poirch of your beach hut during the afternoon

    then at night hit a couple of bars for some Chang beers get drunk, then go find yourself a bong and some crazy locals and finish the night off your face

    thong nai pan is a very small roughly laid out village, three or four hut operators and two or three little restaurants/pubs. It should be buzzing around the full moon but I was there this time last year (not full moon) and it was just ticking over ie we were the only customers in the rasta bar.

    You are not going to believe the road in, this time last year half the road was missing from floods. You'll be on the back of a pickup so at least if it crashes you can jump clear.

    When in Thong nai pan take a day trip over to hat kaud (bottle beach) for the real chilled out people (no elec only at night)

    You don't really do much in Thong nai pan expect laze about.
    You could take a day trip to Thong Sala (the pier area on opposite side) for shopping or internet.

    thanks for info folks,

    is there any speed boat service from thong nai pan down to hat rin?

    and how would you compare it to samui? we are staying 5 nights so should we spend those on phangan or samui?

    and finally, are there any particular bars or places we should check out at the full moon party?
