Try Valencia, cheap flights via stansted with Ryanair..

Hostels start at 9 euro a night (double room) and not much more for better accommodation.

Not a trashy tourist city, loads to see, old stuff, pokey streets, great nightlife, very safe city, huge new aquarium and temperature in Sept should be perfect, not too hot... and of course its Spain, restaurants and bars are cheap...

Its for everyone, really good nightlife, so many pubs and clubs, plus it seems so safe, theres a beach nearby with all the usual watersports.. its a big city without having all the drawbacks of big cities, e.g. knackers etc
