    Hi,

I'd like to get some comments here. Friend was in an accident. Car ran into the back of him and knocked him into the car in front. Not much front damage but back underbody of car and exhaust was damaged. It has been fixed, new exhaust etc. It all looks fine. Only sign is when u look in the boot at where the spare wheel is. You can see evidence of some work. I dont know if a regular joe Blogs could tell or not that it was necessarily accident damage.

Car seems to be running fine but should it be independently check and if so by whom to make sure its a good job. It had its NCT before the accident so that wont be up for 2 more years.

He would like to keep the car but wouldnt if its a liability but ....

Secondly. The insurance only offer a pitance when it comes to decreciation damage. Its just a small % of the repair cost but if he was to say to someone it has been in a small accident how likely is it to put people off desite the work being Guarantted and being fixed to a high standard.

Damage amounted to just under €4,000 by Insurance approved Crash Repair Specialist. I'm sure if it had of been fixed by a main dealer it would have been more.

    TIA

    hey there,

I bought my opel astra this time last year. The bolke who was selling it told me that it had a tip exactly like your friend there, exactly the same like and he give the invoice of the repairs and all the details that went into fixing the car.

I took the car to a Opel dealer and the head mechanic took a look and said the car was perfect. A very good example mechanical that he had very seen givin its age and milage

The car runs perfect. Not a thing wrong with it at all and passed the nct no problem. I appreciated the fact that he told he, at least i know exactly wot i got for my money you know. He said he didnt have to pay a penny of the repair costs that the person who rear ended him, his insurance company paid up.

Yes, the Insurance covered the repair costs in total in this case too so he didnt have to pay either. The only reason why he would consider selling is the bad memory. Other than that he will keep it. Its been a great car with no issues whatsoever.
