Is there any way I can get my computer to turn itself off? Why do some computers turn off and others don't? Is it got to do with the motherboard, operating system,...?

What version of windows you using? Is it an old PC.

I've one pc that I just got last week. It's a PIII running XP Pro. Then I've another really old pc with an AMD K6-III processor that used to turn itself off when it had Win98 but it stopped when it was upgraded to XP home.

and power supply. Good old AT power supplies with On/Off buttons, no chance of the PC powering up when you add in memory, and you are certain it will power up again after a power cut.
