Mightn't be quite so busy at 4am, but be there by around then so you're not caught short. Got an 8.30 Aer Lingus flight last week, got to the airport at 6am, and the queues at the metal scanners was enormous. It actually moves fairly quickly though.

    LOL

Almost three hours before a 0640 flight?

Even if there are big queues, it moves very quickly as you say. There is a huge difference in getting a 0830 flight and a 0640 flight. From 0800 on there is a lot of business traffic as well as general commute/holiday traffic. Before 0700 its generally just business.

If I were you and going for that flight, I would be there at 0530. Obviously you might rather leaving yourself a bit of comfort but I would no way go before 0500.

If you are going Aer Lingus use the automated check in, it will save you a lot of time.

I work in the airport. Your flight being that early and on a monday, it won't be that busy. Just give yourself enough time to check in etc. Queues won't be that bad at that time.

I'd say not before 5. I was in the airport on Friday afternoon around 5, everywhere was really really busy but the queue only took about 5 minutes to get through, everyone was just kept moving. Don't forget to wear decent socks though lol they make you put your shoes through the x-ray

i got there at 5 for a 6:40 am flight and that was grand, the queues do move quite quickly, but id say 5-5:15 is about right

If you're going to anywhere in the EU, you'll just walk straight thru.

The trick to getting through the security check extra quick is to have your shoes laces untied so you can take your shoes off before you approach the scanner. Also if you are wearing a belt, take that off as well.. of course the usual wallet, phone, change should be out of your pockets...

In fact.. go naked and put all your clothes etc that you would normally wear into a bag and get dressed at the far side of security... now thats being efficient :D
