Connection time-outs on post deletion

I've been noticing this increasingly - when trying to delete a post or thread on the boards, I constantly get Connection Time-Outs... Has the database grown so large that it's dying every time it tries to delete something? Sometimes this is resolved by retrying, but increasingly of late I just can't delete posts...
