Wife and myself going to Croatia later this month - Cavtat (near Dubrovnik).
Wondering if anyone has been there? What cuisine is like? Car - hire and travelling around? Cruises? Is euro currency enough to have?
    Many thanks.

Cuisine is pretty much like Italian.
You need local currency not euros. Cheapest way to get it is probably from bank machines.
Don't know about car hire but coast road (on mainland) is really busy and isn't cavtat a small island?
There's loads of mini ferry trips between the islands. There's also the main ferry the runs from Dub - Split and on to Rijeka. This doesn't run every day thogh from Dub - Split.
Do a search here for more info. There's loads of Croatia threads about.

Cavtat is small town, 5 mins from airport (under flightpath) and 19kms from Dubrovnik.

It is the perfect base for a week in Croatia.

You can take a water taxi to Dubrovnik, which is the only way to enter Dubrovnik for the first time, you will land at the old town harbour gate....class.

I suggest you spend the first 2/3 days in and around Cavtat and Dubrovnil, and then hire out a car for a few days, should be no more then €50 a day.

Visit Mostar (a must) in Bosnia, Medjegore one day.

Then go up to Trogir, just North of Split for stay for a night there, taking in the coastal drive from Dubrovnik to Split, make sure you stop by Ston, an amazing village.

then head back to cavtat, and then you should visit Montenegro which is further South of Cavtat.

That's you rweek taken care of, you'll then realise, that you didn't get to see the islands, or Plitivice lakes, or Sibenek or Zadar, or .....

You'll then realise you'll be going back again next year for 2 weeks.

Croatia is a class country, easily spend a whole month there !!
