    Hi

I am a leaving cert student who has decided to apply for Genetics and Cell Biology on the CAO. Although I found alot of infrmation on the actual corse and really like what I read as the corse is only 1 year old I was wondering if any of you are actually in it?? It was difficult to find students on the corse to find out information about personal views ect. Interesting in modules esp, how stressful were exams? Do you find it fulfilling! Responses much appreiciated

hey im not in genetics but im i was a first year in science in dcu last year. as far as i know the first year is a general first year for all science except physics. so seen as last year was its first year im not sure that anyone would be able to tell you how diffenrent it is. we all do a bit of genetics in first yeah whihc is interesting.
exams are tough but most leave you well prepared

Yeah. Same as above. Places are tight for second year now if you decide to do common entry and then move. The only bad thing about common entry is that fact.

just know that while you can do science international and specialise in other degress in year two. if u do science international you cant specialise in genetics. this year they have allowed 5 people out of the common entry class(30 or 35 people) to specialise in genetics and it is based on their performance in exams and tests. so if youre going in the common entry way you better work hard cos even tho places were tight this year i have a feeling points are going to go up for the genetics course itself
