You might as well buy a IDE HDD now rather than going through the hastle of getting a converter. There is no performace difference between them.

Well I intend getting a new shuttle in a month or 2. they only have 1 ide port for the dvd drive, so I would be forking out another €100 plus for an sata drive then. whenI won't really need all the space.

I got a PCI controller card in IT direct with 2 IDE and 2 SATA ports. It'll give you your temporary SATA connection to your motherboard and a couple of extra IDE ports for when you get your new mobo.

you could see if someone has a spare seriell adaptor from an abit mobo. I had one but never used it at all. Would give it to ya but i sold it with the mobo. still there is bound to be someone with one if you post on the wanted board
