I'm just looking for advice on a cheapish digital camera to get, it doesn't have to be amazing, just something to take pictures that i can stick on a pc. Preferably one with a decent sized memory and battery life, as well as reasonable quality.

Budget of 100euro or so. (i know it's cheap but it's all i got.)

    Thanks :)

The thing about a digital camera, is - add at least about €50 for power extras. You'll need a decent battery supply, so I'd advise getting a battery charger and rechagable batteries. But that's something you can get after the camera itself, otherwise you're going to spend a fortune on batteries.
That's unless you go for a camera with an in-built battery, but personally I'd stay away from these.

For your budget, you're going to be looking for a point-and-click camera, so you don't need to worry about aperture and shutter speed etc, so, personally, I'd go for the biggest mega-pixel cameras, combined with the biggest optical zoom you can afford.

thats a grand camera.. lil expensive for what your getting, and it';s a kodak.. Personally I wounldn't go for a kodak, they are far to cheap.. as in the feel of them etc.. get a canon they are great.

they feel cheap? but what would the end product be like compared to a canon? Considering there are no canons on that site above 5 megapixels that fit into my budget.

I guess i could stretch to this?

http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/56777/art/canon/powershot-a95-pack-plus.html a little pricey but the spec doesn't seem to be as good, so why more expensive? What am i paying extra for?

    Or

http://www.pixmania.com/ie/uk/85752/art/canon/powershot-a520.html - Only 4 megapixels, how much of a difference would this make?

I don't have a clue, someone tell me which is better, please!:(

    :D Thanks.

After doing a bit of research, i'm getting to swing towards the A95, it's a little pricey alright, but it seems to be more superior compared to the others, and i don't want to get a camera now only to want a better one in a couple of months.

    Any thoughts?

*edit* ok, the A95 is now mine.

Someone tell me i've made the right decision? Please?

I wouldn't agree. Anyhting over 2mp is fine for 6x4 snaps and I'd go for the best lense/make after that. Shutter speed is important as the shutter lag is the most annoying feature on low end cameras. I say thats the most important feature. I prefer AA batteries myself, as you can always by them if you run out of juice. That said I have a Nikon 3700 with an internal rechargable, which I bought mainly because it takes excellent photos and has a decent movie (640x480, 30 fps) mode.

I had an A70 before which was a great camera, until I got the E18 error (google for it). Hopefully you won't get it on the A95, I'd say it's really rare enough to be honest, I probably got some sand in the zoom lens anyway.

They're a great little camera though, you can really rely on them for a great shot. And you can fiddle with all the manual settings too when you get into it. Good choice!
