    .

I've heard "baloobered" being used for someone who is well drunk / pissed / wasted / scuttered / boll*xed / intoxicated / got the staggers / rat arsed / out of it / legless /

I have it on good account that this is (or was originally) a racial slur against black people - most likely brought from London / Manchester. Amazing what words get used for by the uneducated, eh?

Actually, I'm from out in Meath. I've no problem calling myself a culchie, but there are some hillbillys that come up with some amazing words.

Flootered is another one. Imagine that bein' said in a Navan accent. Marvellous stuff.

That indeed may be true, but what does that make the rest of the country like.... :D

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I was in Dublin last weekend.

It was funny. Especially the Luas. The only explanation for it is that there's a conspiracy between taxi drivers to congest traffic even more so they can make more money off the longer trips.

I left Dublin to move to tipperary two years ago after 20 years of living there and i have never looked back....

    couple of reasons why,

    car insurance is cheaper

pubs dont close till the last man leaves

never have to pay for 'dashes'

in two years i havnt been in one traffic jam (except when i was in Dublin!).

I must say on the other hand there are things i miss like proper music in clubs such as the TempleBarMusicCentre and the like but i just head up when i want so for me the good of countrylife outways the bad.....Im a Dub to the bone and have always said it loud(of course) and proud.

The term Balooba became an insult in Ireland after members of that tribe in the Congo killed Irish troops at Niemba during the '60's. It was the Irish army's first peace-keeping mission for the UN.
