    Hi
For those of you wondering I'm not dead I'm in India...but to the point:

I met the indian National archery team the other day at a press conference (As you do...obviously  ) as in the guys who took silver in the world championships and the girls who came fourth. And of cource i was chatting to them over tea (really... the womens compound team mainly but, being me, said hi to the lot and DolaBannerji- olympic and everything else medalist a bunch of times...) There is a point here somewhere and I'm gettin to it.

They're typical day begins at 5am and at 6am they start with two hours physical training and then breakfast.
They start shooting at 9am and continue till 12 an hour for lunch then they shoot straight until 6pm.
In bed by 9 and they're up in the morning to do it all over again. This is six days a week with a half day sunday ALL YEAR with the exception of two weeks holidays, and when they're at competitions.

The same regime goes for juniors, sub juniors (they have two hours less shooting time but the have classes until late in the evening)
and seniors and they all train at different camps(think FCA but with bows) at archery academy's across the country.

Does anyone else think this is a damn scary thought....

I'm managing three hours but i only just started back shooting a week ago, I was doing charity work all last month out here. And you know i think my bow is happier in the heat, its not jumping around quite so much with the reverbs after the shot and the draw feels smoother. Does this make sense to anyone?

    People are insane over here,
there are eight and ten year olds on the same routine as the adults and they've just got two new Korean coaches so some of them are complaining that their scores have dropped cos they're trying to get used to the new stuff .

The scores they're complaining about all happen to be well OVER 1200 !!!
    TEN YEAR OLDS....!!!!

And the country decided to have a compound teams this year and they only took up compounds less than five months ago (one of them just over 2 months ago) and they're all shooting comfortably over 1300.

My only concellation is that I seem like a damn giant compared to the girlies on the compound team... they're all miniscule :D

    I'm glad to hear it.

U may as well go back to using DIT equipment if you're dropping your poundage. It'll save you a few squid if nothing else!

ah i don'y mind gettin lighter limbs, going to trade in the 40lbs one's i have, hopefully swap them.... live in hope!!!! i have the bow, so not much point in going back to beginner bows, just light limbs and arrows is all i need....

depends nnow ta be honest on the motivation behind your interest. you interested in pickin off a few rooskies or yopu just wonderin on ther aul back muscle thing. well on the back muscle thing swinnin is great for the aul fitness and if nothing else will help your stamina although i'm sure certain strokes involve a bit of pullin (with back muscles) so thats grand. on the rooskie frontr well i dunno. give my man tom clancy a bell he's the authority on that. so long san diego and stay classy

thinkin of takin it up..... i've had a fear for god knows how long!!! though it might be good for the aul muscles, n shoulders.....

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 113 ✭✭Blind man

    (means swimmins garand great excersise)

no we actually got a pool here an even just messin around in it is great excersise. you'd be suprised at the workout you'd be gettin without knowin it.

btw you have a lot a freet ime at that job a youers. could ya not devote the time ta comin uop with developing regimes for our soon to be nuby's
