Bought FM2005 a week or so ago. Decided to break myself in easy and chose Juventus in Serie A. They have a good starting squad without too many weak positions. It took me a little while to tweak my tactics and the board were a little stingy with a transfer kitty of only £7million.

After a slow start I eventually caught Milan who were by far the best team in the game, and I won the league. I also added the Champions League (thanks to a nice easy run after the group stage) and the Italian Cup.

I've just finished my second season and again I did the treble so I doubt I'll continue this Juve game more than another season or two before picking a tougher challenge.

After 2 seasons this is my first 11

    This is my second eleven

Zlatan Ibrahimovic is the player who made it all possible, he's the 2nd best striker in the game (after Adriano).

But Julio Baptista is my current favouite player. I had loads of problems with my midfielders, Nedved, Emerson and particularly Manuele Blasi not scoring. Bapista has solved that!

One thing I like about the new version is the manager interaction before each match where you try to get the upper hand and get your own players motivated. Unfortunately I'm not very good at picking the correct responses. Here's my current manager profile

What stats has everyone else got?

Finally I seem to get a huge amount of shots in some games and not rack up the goals. Especially in the games at home against weak opposition. Is this just the way it goes or might I be doing something wrong?

Do yourself a favour and sign Dédé. Best left back in the game.

also keep an eye out for Zé Eduardo and definitely check out Phillip Lahm.

My full backs are Zambrotta and Lahm, they are both L/R so can cover each other. Patrice Evra is the new Roberto Carlos.

How exactly do I get my media rating up? When opposition managers say they don't think Juve will win the league I usually reply with "We will definitely win" or "I believe we have a very good chance".

What should my replys be to the various comments?

As regards the seemingly super oppositin keppers, did you get the patch applied?

say nice things about managers and teams you get on with and nasty things about managers and teams you dont

eg- if playing as arsenal, slag the tottenham manager. the players and fans will love you for it, but dont overdo it.

I play online with a mate most nights. I'm Inter and he's Milan. I'm top of the league by a good margin in January of the first season.

Adriano is too good. Sold Vieri to Depor for 10m because he was unhappy but have Adriano, Martins and Cavenaghi for the front two spots. Only signed Cavenaghi recently and he has 4 goals in his first 2 games.

I got Evra for LB and Scott Parker for CM (3m). Recoba is top class on the left wing. as is Stankovic on the right. Kily Gonzalez is also superb but he and van der Meyde are only subs. Acually, I signed Bierofka recently, I don't need him but £250k is nothing. I signed loads of youngsters too. Can't remember much more but sign Recoba if you get the chance.

Sign Luque. He is brilliant but he has a high demand for wages so watch out for that. Worth every penny I'm paying him.

I'm playing Version 5.0.5 I think, bought it in Game and got the update disk with it. I think it's valid until the close of the Jan 05 transfer window.

I now have media-handling of 1..... profile says "Media-shy Manager".
I dunno what I'm doing wrong.

Should I be giving comments on future opposition before the games? I never do that at the moment, just react to other managers comments.

All i do is react. If its a derby game i usually make a comment saying im looking forward to the game and anticipate a good rivalry.

I've only played the Italian league in FM2005 once, as Genoa. Enjoyed it though, seemed to get completely different types of players than I usually do in the English leagues. Mind you, I also found myself buying lots of Englishmen :)

Won promotion to Seria A immediately, finished 9th, then 2nd, then 1st, I got bored (as I always do) after that and started splashing cash on players I had no need for (Ronaldinho etc). My team was built entirely on youth (as pictured below, most of the guys who are in their mid twenties had been with me for a few seasons).

Ben Arfa, R. Smith, S. Kalou, Van Persie and Cavenaghi all became insanely good. I was particularily surprised at how good Ben Arfa was playing as a striker (his description is Midfielder), he kept a 'Worldclass forward' Van Persie out of the team.
