ok i'm not dooging any of the Paranoraml group in Ireland but the one i know off who have websites dont undate them very often & infact you'd need a ouija just to contact them ... so maybe a "Meet & Greet" will lead to the forming of a new team .... i'm in tallaght and if anyone is nearby and interested let me know!

Anyone else interested in starting one or have view on existing groups?

Maybe there are some goods ones i dont know about?

ok so that 2, if anyone else is interested, pm me with any details you want, like what you'd expect of a investigation groups, places you'd like to go to, any relevant experience or equipment?
Also if we get enough people we could meet up for a friendly pint and trash it out.
Like i said i'm in Tallaght so the closer the better, Yemim might be too far for regular meets.

Pm me and when i get 5 (including myself) we can organise a meet over a pint and see what we want to do, beginners to the experienced ... it doesnt matter as long as you have an open mind.

If you're setting up a group and go on an investigation, you'll need t remember to be gareful, on more than one front. In addition to the spiritual side, you need to remember that in some old places, there's lots of debris that you could trip over as well.

Elliott: hate having to say this but i would be very weary of bringing someone underage on an investigation for several reasons, first off its because they could be on anywhere around ireland (even as far as Edinburgh if i get my way) and also there is the danger side of things. Saying that i hope this doesnt p**s you off, as i had many experiences when iw as your age and would have loved the opportunity to share these with others.

Kenneth: "Safety First" i always say! seriously i am hoping to get someone who is very into the spiritual side of things who would be able to advise with quite some knowledge about psychic projection but when it comes to the physical stuff, and survvaying any area i would intended investigate, preparation and research should keep everyone safe.

Am back in the office tomorrow so i intend on putting up something on here about how things are going.

    Hey Mark,

    Sounds good to me.
You will love Edinburgh, I was there many years ago its a fantastic place full of history and a great past.

I agree, Its important to have spiritual protection, you can do this through visualisation techniques, prayer and use of crystals also. It depends on which you prefer...I am no expert but there are many places you can find more information on, especially on the internet.

I sent you an email, hope ya got it.

    Blessings,

    Ro

Cheers Yule, actually i dont go anywhere without my crystal lol... even brought it with me the 5 times i've been to edinburgh ( i'd live there if i could, i have lots of scotish family). I've even been to the Black Mausolemum home of the Mackenzie Poltergeist, check it out if you've managed to never hear of it! As for wanting someone on the team with experience i would love a well practiced pagan, with a deep respect and knowledge of energies/spirits as well as a healthy knowledge of cleansing rituals, protection prayers and use of candles and crystals.
Apart from that someone with a experience of First Aid would be great (never can be too careful!)

I will check the net for sources of the mac Kenzie ghost, I think I have heard of it before but I cannot remember for sure.

I am Pagan (Wiccan to be precise) myself and have been for the last three years, but I am still on the learning path though, and although I know some things, I suppose I can't really say I am an expert as such. I have no problem helping out whichever knowledge that I have.

However, I was thinking, maybe if you try some of the pagan mailing lists-the Irish ones, perhaps you can ask for someone who has a lot of experience, who might be interested in giving some advice to you on various protection rituals etc. An Fainne mailing list might be a good place to start, it's at Yahoo groups. There are lot of people there who have years and years of experience in paganism and would probably know a lot more than I do.

I have a lot of crystals myself and I always find Amethyst helps me a lot with protection, and other things spiritualwise, it's one of my favourite crystals.

    Good stuff :)

In the group I'm currently with, they have techniques for psychic protection that were mentioned on their forums. I think there was another method I participated in, though I can't remember it, as I seemed to go through the motions faster than everyone else, which I was told was a good thing. Next time I'm with the group, I'll talk to someone there about protection and I'll send you over what I can get, if I can remember, lol.

I'd be interested at some stage, but I don't have a lot of time to dedicate at the moment. If you keep us updated here (which I hope you'd be doing anyway) I may join in at some stage, if that's ok.

    No problem :)

Well, I really only used to have a hand torch, a wrist torch, digital camera, EMF meter and crystal pendulum that I used on investigation, as well as a set of 2-way radios. I used to use the teams equipment asides from that.

I'm having to buy a replacement torch however, I replaced the camera with a better model that can take pictures in total darkness (but unlike everything else though, I still have it!), the EMF meter is lost somewhere, either at home here in the attic in Ireland, or when I moved to England. The crystal seems to be lost as well, so I have to purchase a new one. Lastly, All I have for the 2-way radios (bought a set of 4 on special from Argos) are the chargers. Perhaps I'll find them sometime, though at the moment, it's looking doubtful.

Anyway, I'm buying a few new things to replace what I lost, such as:

An amethyst or quartz crystal and some string (makes a good starting pendulum)
A maglite torch (powerful light source)
Wrist light (I had one of these ages ago, they're quite good if you want a free hand for something else, while also having a light source

I'm getting the torches from somewhere like Maplins or Petes, both around the same general area, and the crystals from Yellow Brick Road (Somewhere along the road to Dublin) or House of Astrology (Parliment Street)

Then you have the slightly more specialist stuff, such as:

    2G EMF
    Canum I
    Negative Ion Detector (NID)

    and lastly

Dowsing rods, as I'm one of those crackpot spiritualist peaple ;)

    These things are handy too:

    Torch/Compass/Stopwatch
    Waterproof Fleece

You don't really need the torch/watch combo though, I'm getting it for myself as it saves me some bother. You could easily use a normal watch to time things. Also, pens, paper, notepads and pencils are always useful to have, if to write down occurences, and other stuff pertaining to the investigation, such as history you get from interviews and such. It can also help with trigger objects. The fleece I mentioned above is again what I'd personally using on the basis that on an investigation, it sometimes gets terribly nippy sometimes, so you need to keep warm. Also, dark clothes are a must, so as not to reflect any flashes that may be fired while taking photos.

This isn't the only equipment you can get either and by no means, you don't have to get any of this stuff either... well, apart from a torch (no use in looking for things that go bump in the night if you're doing that instead ;)) and a fleece, or something to keep you warm. A notepad and pens/pencils are definately a must, as is any camera. I've been on a vigil before where all I had was a normal APS camera, so there's no reason why you can't either starting off.

Other things I recall being used in investigations were laptops and security cameras, video cameras with zero-lux vision (I'm getting one myself soon enough), tape recorders, non-contact thermometers and god knows what other stuff, lol. Either way, you're bound to find some use for whatever you bring.

I hope this helps. If it doesn't, or you need more info, let me know and I'll try to help. I willsay one thing though... If when you start out with a group, try to get people of differing beliefs on the team. It's not a good idea having a urely scientific team, just as it isn't a good idea having a purely spiritual team. Strike a balance between the two.

    Regards,

    Andy

Edit: Also, if you want a Cell Sensor EMF, you can go to ebay: http://search.ebay.ie/EMF-Meter_W0QQfltZ9

Also, you can check out http://www.spectralelectronics.co.uk/ for info on more equipment, as well as the stuff I listed.

Then you have non-contact thermometers: http://search.ebay.ie/non-contact-thermometer_W0QQsofocusZbsQQsbrftogZ1QQsojsZ1QQfromZR10QQsacatZ-1QQcatrefZC6QQsargnZ-1QQsaslcZ3QQsadisZ200QQfposZPostcodeQQga10244Z10425QQftrtZ1QQftrvZ1QQfsopZ1QQfsooZ1QQcoactionZcompareQQcopagenumZ1QQcoentrypageZsearch

You don't need to go where I suggest. If you find anywhere else (that is cheaper especially) do feel free to go there instead :)

I have a friend who's based in Dublin and has written at least one book on *ghostbusting* and has been involved in some high profile stuff. She knows a lot about techniques and protection. She's also a High priestess and practicing pagan, I'm sure she would be willing to help with the protection stuff and that. I'm kind of interested myself, I do tarot readings and spiritual healing and meditate a lot. Used to sit in a developmental circle but that kind of fizzled out. That was based in Tallaght as am I.

I'm interested big time :) But as you know, this stuff freaks me out, old dark buildings, noises etc. etc. ...... and with all this talk of protection, what's a worst case scenario psycologically, physically, spiritualy etc?

Me and a few friends were in the process of setting something up down here in Wexford but funding and resources were a slight problem (the lack of anything at all really). If you want somewhere to investigate try Loftus/Loftis Hall (I'm not sure on the exact spelling) It's down here near Hook Head and there's a lot of local legends about it. We think the current owner lives in England so you might need to contact them to get a key or permission.
