    I'm running a LAN in a fortnight.

I intend playing alot of BF2.

    We *may* have a netconnection.

Are there any authentication issues/Steam-esque bullshít with running a LAN Linux/Win32 server?

    What is the load like?

Was at a BF2 LAN on Saturday with a windows dedicated BF2 server running.
Everyone had to create an 'offline' account to connect to the local server.
And I think some users had to remove their DNS entries, before they could connect to the local server / to stop them trying to connect to the online account server?

The only downside is the lack of offline stats. 15 hours of BF2 goodness and nothing to show for it :(

BlueDrax, there is a stat tracker out there. It does not "rank" you, but you can track kills, accuracy, blah blah, all the usual stuff.

I can't remember where I saw it off the top of my head, somewhere on PlanetBF maybe. It is out there though.
