A very deep July depression will develop late today and deepen quite
rapidly just west of Ireland. The storm system will then intensify so
much that it will hook off to our Northwest.

Western coastal areas will see intense Force 9 gales at times as the
very strong swathe of winds to the south of the storm comes ashore.

Gusts above 70mph are possible during Saturday evening.

It will be a windy day country wide with Force 8 gales up the Irish
    sea with gusts above 50mph.

The storm in association with a wave stretching across the Atlantic
will be build more like a October Storm system and an intense system
like this being present in July is almost unheard of..

... :D:D:D:D:D

Thanks for the info. Any developments on this? Will it affect all of us or mainly north-east?

Yep, this is unusual for sure, hate to say it, but this is yet another example of global warming taking hold, we could be in for a much more volatile atmosphere here in future years.

"Scientists have underestimated the "cooling" effect of pollutant particles produced by humans - as the air clears, warming may speed up alarmingly

CLIMATE scientists have been underestimating the "cooling" effect of the pollutant particles produced by human activity. As cleaner technology reduces such aerosols, global warming seems likely to speed up alarmingly.

Aerosols reduce the amount of solar radiation reaching the Earth's surface, thus keeping global warming in check. "It is like driving a car with one foot on the gas and the other on the brake," says Meinrat Andreae of the Max Planck Institute for Chemistry in Mainz, Germany.

Andreae and his colleagues used a computer model to study the cooling effect of aerosols and the warming effect of greenhouse gases. They found that both effects have to be greater than previously thought to explain the trends in global temperatures over the past 50 years.

But while the cooling effect is unlikely to grow much, greenhouses gases will continue to accumulate, and will have an increasing effect on global temperature. "

They reckon +10c by 2100 and thats the median !! , this is scary stuff !!
Should this come to pass we will have a all year round hurricane season in Ireland :(..then again the gulf stream may fail and its offset past most of our lifetimes..tis interesting stuff..

Have a weather station?, why not join the Ireland Weather Network - http://irelandweather.eu/

The storm will thankfully not affect much of Ireland as it will stay
about 80miles off the Northwest coast.

My admiration and excitement about this storm is more to do with its'
sheer intensity and rarity for July and i will also watch in aw as the
    storm develops.

This storm is a freak for July and if it was to cross 100 miles further
south than progged (which it wont) would cause major damage across
the country. The southern swathe of winds on the storm bears
55mph sustained winds and gusts above 80mphs.

But i just must express my personal my extrmem view against
"Global Warming".. it brings tears of anger to my eyes when people
discuss this topic as it is totally misrepresented.

I could spend a whole day discussing this but Glocal Warming in itself
is occuring at present but i do not in the slightest blame this on any
    human activity.

The worlds climate adjusts in natural cycles!! How do we think that
our miniscule amount of pollution would damage this cycle!

Anyway talk of climate change in the way it's discussed nowadays
    just makes me cringe!

I was in a restaurant the other day and i heard people talking about
" the lack of snow nowadays" "it's so warm nowadays" "How our climate has changed "Global warming..." BLAH BLAH BLAH!!!!

    I nearly flipped!

    Anyway RANT OVER :D

Gusts to 61 knots at Belmullert nearly 75mph  :D;)

Could you explain why this storm deepened instead of

    a; whizzing off northeastwards or

    b; filling in.

There was no big blocking high to stop it.
