I just tried to get a 8 Meg file and it died at 26%, it's starting to happen too often, does anyone know a fix for this please?

Whenever that happens to me its a server problem, not firefox.

Are you sure the problem is in Firefox only? The only time I've seen that happen was with a paused download and that rarely happened and not at all recently. I've been using Firefox since 0.4 so I'm sure I'd have seen that bug if it existed.

FireFox is a browser, not a download accelerator.

Were using the FireFTP extension ? - it resumes interrupted downloads.
    or FireZilla

    www.netleech.com is handy too.

actually firefox does this to me on occasion too. I'd have to use IE to get whatever the file was.

    wget 4tw

Firefox choking on larger downloads (200mb+ in my experience) is a known problem, but smaller ones are probably a server problem.

is there a way to get netleech to pick up on the download as soon as i click on it in mozilla?

Thanks for the info people, I'd normally use flashget if I didn't want to lose the download half way though, firefox never restarts after a pause either. I'll give the extensions a go.

ffox has always been pretty reliable for me, as was said above it's usually a server or connection problem

Never had that problem. But firefox isn't a download client it just has a default one. You can install a different one via Extensions. Check the extensions site and you will find a number of other download managers.

btw check your network card and see if you have it set for Windows to switch it off for powersaving.

Leechget is a particularly good download manager.
