    Hi All,
Question, does anybody have or had a kitten in the house with a 2 and a half year old boy?? If so how did/do you deal with and teachthe little boy how to behave around the kitten? any tips would be great.

    Cheers
    D

This really isn't a pet issue. It's a case of parenting as the training doesn't involve the kittens.

Supervise him at all times with the kitten, even the most careful child can accidentaly hurt a kitten, as soon as the little boy realises kittens have sharp claws he will know to be more careful.
Any young child must be supervised with pets, have him help you feed the kitten and buy some cat toys that are safe for the two of them to play with. Have somewhere safe where the kitten can go to escape if he/she wants to.

Kittens need regular worming so make sure the kitten has had all his/her worming doses and make sure the kitten is in full health has all his/her vax etc. I would choose a kitten around the age of 3 to 4 months, a very young kitten eg 8 wks old will not have had all its worm doses and vaccinations etc.

Kitten adoption has lots of kittens and cats for more cat care info here's the link, it's well worth a read. http://www.kittenadoption.ie/index.htm

    Hope this helps.

You should try kitten adoption or cats aid if you're in the Dublin area.
Kittens are so well looked after at kitten adoption and have all their important health checks done so there is no risk of them passing something onto your son.
