    Hey,

During my wonderfully productive day of doing nothing I've started playing a few games again. I can't remmeber what it was, v-sync or something like that. Its a graphcs card setting you switch off so games dont bugger up.

Can anyone tell me what it is. I can't rmeember. I'm on a radeon 9600 pro

    What you mean bugger up?

IIRC there was a problem with Fast writes on the 9600, try disabling them.

During any sort of game the VPU goes bandy and tries to recover itself. Downloaded the latest drivers. Is it possible to run some sort of hardware scan on it ?

You thinking of AGP fast writes perhaps? Think that's a bios option for me. It /can/ cause instability. I'd suggest trying older driver sets too. AFAIK, ATI's newer drivers are all aimed at the newer cards anyway, so you wont get any improvement over their (already stable) older drivers.

Did you turn off fast writes? What happens when you disable VPU and play a game?
